Project Description: This platform will help people seeking culturally rich travel experiences. The goal of this user is to explore the cultures of diverse places in the world and not just mainstream travel experiences.

Problem Definition: Users looking to visit appealing but lesser-known destinations have difficulty getting authentic information to guide them. As a result, booking travels to these places can be very time consuming and stressful. Most information generally available from online research is low value, and sometimes biased.​

Solution: A Platform with Insights on destinations that connect users with local guides. The proposed platform connects users directly with local tour guides in their desired destination. These guides can share first-hand knowledge and insights to guide users when planning. Many travelers consider local guides to be authoritative sources in determining if a place is worth visiting.

Content Strategy: The content will be presented in images, videos, infographics, cultural stories about destinations and traveler education. To better engage users, the content will be about the traveler’s mindset and passion and less focus on traditional demographics. To make content engaging, the following elements will be fully considered:

Videos and images with a narration of the culture and tradition of destinations

Destination research presented in infographics, charts and skimmable content. Users have the option to download full content in PDF.

An interactive and fun challenge to get users excited and think about their desired destination. For example, users may be asked to pinpoint their destination on a world map and then select 3 things to do when there, with the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw.

A local guide listing so users can connect if they have questions about a destination. (In the beginning, API from a local tour guide platform e.g. Viator will be leveraged for listings of local guides. Eventually, we will develop in house process for sourcing & verifying local guides in key destinations.)
